Sagamore Resort Chooses Rain Bird

Atlantic Irrigation Specialties in partnership with Rain Bird Services Corporation of Upstate New York will be supplying the new irrigation system at the Sagamore Resort Golf Course in Bolton Landing, NY.  With the addition of a state-of-the-art Rain Bird Irrigation System to this Donald Ross designed golf course, The Sagamore Resort will not only have a golf course that is designed by the “Patron Saint of Golf Architecture, it will be irrigated with products from a company that is known for its commitment to the Intelligent Use of Water™ and manufacturing of products with the highest value and quality.

Ross designed his courses with wide fairways, crowned greens and subtle contours formed from the existing lay of the land. He didn't believe in gimmicks, but in a classic simplicity that honored the natural environment.  It is for these reasons that The Sagamore Resort hired Irrigation Consultant Jim White to design an irrigation system that would be able to manage the features created by Ross.

The irrigation system is a  multiple row irrigation system allowing for precise application of water via individual head control, and excellent water distribution with over 800 Rain Bird 700/751 Series Valve-In-Head rotors and 48 Bunker zones controlled by Rain Bird electric valves. The Hydraulic network was designed to utilize HPDE pipe through out. The Club will also benefit from flexible In-Field Control provided by 14 Par + ES Controllers, Stratus II Central Control, Freedom Radio, and Rain Bird RainWatch Technology.  RainWatch is the industries only system designed to automatically react to rainfall and adjust sprinkler application rates to take full advantage of natural rain, thereby eliminating over‑watering.
